Debbie
Frisch was raised in West Allis, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee.
She has worked for over eight years as Computer Operations Manager/
Programmer for a "group purchasing program" for retirement
facilities. Prior to this position, she worked for another company
in the same industry for seven years in the customer service and
computer departments.
Debbie started
music lessons on the organ when she was 8 years old. At 12, she
played "Ave Maria" for her cousin's wedding. Because
of her asthma, it was suggested that she play a wind instrument
to expand her lung capacity. She started playing the alto saxophone
at 15 and played all through high school, in both the concert
and marching bands. She performed at all of the music competitions
and received quite a few metals for solos, quartets and duet ensembles.
She majored
in music for two years at University of Wisconsin-Waukesha and
learned a lot about music theory and composing music. She played
the organ for a coworker's wedding in 1977 and continued playing
in a local community group.
After moving
to Dunedin, Florida in 1985, she played with the Dunedin Community
Band and the Clearwater Community Band / Jazz Band. In addition,
she played in the pit orchestra for several plays that were put
on by the Bay City Players at Ruth Eckerd Hall
She put the
saxophone away when she returned to school in 1994 to pursue her
Bachelor's degree. In 1995 she graduated Magna cum Laude from
Florida Metropolitan University with a bachelor's degree in Computer
Science.
In 1995 she
was introduced to Ellen and a few years later, met Jackie. When
the subject of her musical background came up, they persuaded
her to dust off her saxophone and get back to the keyboard, and
the three started performing together.
At first,
they played for Masses at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church
in Dunedin, and soon performed their first "gig" for
the Oaks of Clearwater Retirement Home on New Year's Eve, 1999.
The group has been performing ever since and has made a name for
themselves locally. They've been invited to play for High Teas,
anniversary parties for the clergy as well as holiday events and
weddings. Recently they've been performing with an international
chorale group and will be touring with them for ten days in October,
2001 in the Greek Islands.
Debbie says she's always dreamed of playing in a band but didn't
think it would ever happen. She feels that God brought them together
for the purpose of sharing their music with others and says it
has been a wonderful experience to be a part of "Blended
Energy".
